In an alternate Feudal Era Japan, giant insects known as "Mushi" started appearing and attacking people 100 years before and since then they bring terror and death to the country. To counter the threat of the Mushi, the Shogunate establishes the Mushi Magistrate (Mushibugyō) whose sole purpose is to assemble warriors strong enough to fight them. Feudal Japan is attacked by beasts called 'Youi'. Ryuudou Yukiatsu, a 'floater' and an employee at a bath house has the power of Ayagami ("The power to find the words behind things") which can be used in fighting against the Youi. That's why the members of a Youi-fighting group Bansha Aratamesho, called the Ayashi, are looking for Yukiatsu - they want him to become an Ayashi as well. Yukiatsu runs into a woman and a son who are chased by a Youi and has to face the past he's been running away from.
Ronin Warriors: Message
When Touma discovers a 300-year-old book, which chronicles the adventures of the troopers, he also meets the mysterious spirit Suzunagi. When Touma goes missing, the other troopers meet to discuss the book that Touma sent to Ryou. Going their separate ways, they set out to find out who this Suzunagi is and why she is so interested in the troopers and their armors.
