Sakura Wars the Animation

In Japan in the Taisho era, a group of maidens protected Tokyo as the Imperial Combat Revue, doubling as both stage performers and pilots of steampunk mecha called Koubu. 14 years later, a new Imperial Combat Revue has been formed to carry on that tradition. Led this time by Sakura Amamiya, the team performs on stage and then is joined by a new junior member: Klara, the only survivor of the recently-obliterated Moscow Combat Revue. She's lost her memories and was being actively pursued by two parties when recovered by Seijuro (their male counterpart), so they will have to both protect her and give her a sense of family to help recover. And the protecting comes quickly after when a horde of demons attack.

Restricted to an abandoned mansion on the outskirts of London in fulfillment of a promise to her father, lonely Cardia lives day to day isolated from the world. One day, her quiet solitude is interrupted as the Royal Guards break in to capture her. It is then that Cardia meets Arsène Lupin, a chivalrous thief, who helps her escape the soldiers' clutches. She soon finds herself on a journey with Lupin to locate her father, who holds the answers to her mysterious condition.

But a giant robot called Onigami, which has existed since ancient time, dispelled the Kurofune ships and the exclusion of foreigners was accomplished. The story begins in Japan where Meiji restoration in 1868 didn't happen.

Beatings, imprisonment, rape and even murder are the adopted tactics chosen to maintain their reign. The bloodshed must end. A group of Samurai have banded together, and, with the development of new weapons and new technology, they have both the will and the hardware to stand up and fight. Ichimatsu is one of these fighters. By day, he works incognito at a local tavern, in the evenings he frequents the brothels, and by the dark of night, he doles out some big-time, gun-barrel justice.
