In this world, cats aren't furry four-footed creatures, but human-like girls with ears, tails, and cat-like behaviors. A young man running his own patisserie lives with two of these cats, Chocola and Vanilla, who help him out around the store. Maple and Cinnamon, two of the cats from home, also come in everyday, and together they enjoy a sweet life. Even if the cats don't always get along – and Azuki and Coconut certainly don't – things are peaceful and calm until a stray kitten follows Chocola home.

Hal and Bons are a pair of beer-drinking slacker dogs. They are joined on their sofa by an anthropomorphic rice cake by the name of Mochi, who first interviews them and then decides to give up being an interviewer and move in with them instead. Hal and Bons have mixed feelings about this turn of events—Mochi tastes great but he's rather lacking in social skills and he's starting to smell...

The Android, Nukunuku, has the dual purposes of being a companion/sister for Ryunosuke as well as being a bodyguard for his father. Nukunuku's extreme strength and feline agility are regularly needed to protect Ryunosuke and his father from Ryunusuke's mother who seeks to kidnap them both following her divorce from his father. Her motives towards Ryunusuke are simple motherly love, however her genius-inventor-ex-husband she wants to put to work designing weapons of mass destruction for her weapons company.
